Description

Teaching about the diversity of cells? Go beyond the normal characteristics of prokaryotes vs. eukaryotes and plant vs. animal cells and have students look at ACTUAL cellular diversity examples.

This can can be set up as stations around the room or if you have 1:1 it can easily be done from their seat or even at home. You can use microscopes and slides if you have that available, but I have included images for everything you will need.

  • The student pages are in an editable PPT, a PDF, and Google Slides (only the PPT is editable).
  • The two sets of images (one set for prokaryote vs. eukaryote analysis and one set for plants vs. animal cells) are also in editable PPT, a PDF, and Google Slides (only the PPT is editable).
  • This also includes teacher keys and helpful notes.

This is a two part lab. In part 1, students are looking at the diversity of cell between prokaryote and eukaryote organisms. In part 2, students are looking at plant and animal cells.

Students are asked to:

  1. Classify cells based on observation using micrographs or slides (they have a chart to help guide them).
  2. Answer questions based on their observations.
  3. Make inferences about the differences and similarities and cells related to the structure and function of the cell/organism.

Includes:

  • Google Slides, PPT, and PDF versions
  • Teacher notes and answer key
