A fantastic first formal speech assignment for a public speaking class! Also a great research/synthesis assignment for any English or humanities course. The assignment allows for student voice/choice as they can choose any topic they'd like!

This project-based speech unit starts with observing other speeches to inform (links included on a viewing activity). Students then spend time narrowing down a topic of choice, researching credible sources, developing an outline, and practicing their delivery.
