Professional Development Workshop for Teachers: Teaching Strategies
- Zip
Description
Working with teacher candidates and new teachers during the induction year, one thing I found that these young teachers struggled with was being able to ask effective questions and delivering explanations.
Questions they ask are often closed questions, or are not relevant to what the students had explored. Furthermore the explanations were often non-existent.
This package was designed as a continuous professional development workshop for teacher candidates and new teachers to help them strengthen their practice of asking effective questions and providing effective explanations through reflective practice.
This workshop can be delivered over a period of weeks during the practicum or incorporated into an induction program.
The workbook allows participants to engage in rich conversation with their peers and to plan and try out strategies in the classroom they can later reflect on to continue to improve their practice.
While the focus of this training is for teacher candidates and new teachers, department heads may wish to use this as part of training for whole department.
The package contain:
PowerPoint presentation - 30 slides
Workbook for participants - 15 pages
