Description

Process papers may seem easy, but they teach students the importance of selecting logical/chronological scaffolding and topic selection that can be applied to any type of essay. These types of papers can help students build the writing foundations they need to be successful with many types of writing.

This editable set includes:

  • A link to a sample essay in proper MLA format in Google Docs
    • 5 paragraphs. Topic: How to Bench Press
    • The link will take you to the essay, but you will have to make a copy of it to be able to edit it. I wrote this essay, so there is no need to worry about copyright.

  • A Google Slides presentation with the following:
    • Quick notes on what a process paper is and the parts of it.
    • Separate slide for each body paragraph. This can be used as a model for students if you would like them to complete a presentation on their topic. This can be used as a demonstration of proper paragraph structure if you do not want students to complete a presentation as part of this unit.
    • A slide at the end with instructions for students on how to complete the project and presentation.

Although you can just have students write an essay and do not have to incorporate the Google Slides aspect or presentation aspect for the actual student assignment, I have found that adding these parts into the project gives students an opportunity to be creative and gives me an opportunity to assess their listening/speaking skills. Great for digital learning!
