Description

The NUF rubric applies to all subject areas and grade levels. It is easy to implement rubric to assess a wide variety of students' solutions to a driving question. I often use it in my science classes when I have the students present to administrators or guests from the community. From the presentation, the audience can see if the solution is new, useful, and feasible. It works great because it allows students to be creative with their solution while still holding them accountable for practicality. The audience also does not need to be prepped on the content of the class, they can walk in, listen to the presentation, and then provide meaningful feedback for the students.

In addition to the NUF rubric, I also included the ANUF rubric with the additional category of Arrive. How did the students arrive at their solution? This is an important part of the learning process because it allows the students to explain their group dynamic, activities they did, or even other solutions they came up with before ultimately arriving at the solution they are presenting.

These rubrics are easy to implement to enhance already established projects.
