Description
Use these Preschool Thanksgiving Social Studies and Language Activities to support discussions about Thanksgiving traditions. Inside you will find several easy-to-assemble preschool language activities including: a rebus story, real photo conversation cards, a Thanksgiving vocabulary word bank, and more!
These materials have been designed to help facilitate thoughtful discussions about holidays and celebrations and help young students learn more about different traditions and elements of different holidays. Knowing more about how others celebrate helps children live in a diverse society with respect for others. Although secular in nature, these stories contain accurate, and respectful holiday vocabulary; and are intended to help broaden your student's worldview about different holiday celebrations.
These activities also give students a chance to share and reflect on their own family traditions, and similar shared experiences (even if they don’t celebrate this holiday).
Inside this set, you’ll find a variety of language activities including: A rebus story written about a young child named John, who is excited to share his Thanksgiving traditions! Readers will learn about how John and his family celebrate Thanksgiving. You will also find a picture-word vocabulary list, a sequencing activity, A KWL chart, and conversation cards containing real photos. Students can use the included story props to create a cut-and-paste student book, or the educator can use them to create story props (such as create stick puppets or felt stories).
