    Description

Use these 6 resources before, during, and at the end of teaching a unit on Prehistory and Ancient History. You can use them to:

    * Assess what your students already know about the topic.

    * Give students an introduction to archeology.

    * Provide your students with charts that include information about 6 time periods — great for students reading below grade level — and blank charts students can use to take notes about those 6 eras of prehistory and ancient history.

    * Let students demonstrate what they have learned about prehistory with task cards, puzzles, and other types of assessments.

    * Activate your students' learning with 45 virtual backgrounds.

    Bundle at a Glance:

    What will students learn/do?

    * Before you start teaching about the ancient world, give your students the pre-test to see what they already know about prehistory and ancient history.

    * Then introduce them to archeology by conducting a “dig” right in your own classroom.

    * Students can use the filled-in and blank charts to learn about 6 time periods in prehistory and ancient history, then they can use the task cards and puzzles to review what they have learned.

    * When you’ve finished teaching about prehistory, your students can do the final project about important events and concepts in the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic Ages.

    * After you’ve completed your unit on prehistory and ancient history, give your students the post-test to see what they learned and compare their results to the pre-test they took prior to beginning the unit.

    * At the end of the year, to review the ancient and world civilizations they learned about, have your students do the persuasive writing activity about which civilization they'd prefer to live in.

    * Use the virtual backgrounds for Zoom and Google Meet or an interactive whiteboard to stimulate your students' interest when teaching about Prehistory.

    Who are these resources for?

    * All students, including English Language Learners. ELLs at lower proficiency levels may need extra support and suggestions for some of the activities, which is noted in the resources.

How does this bundle help teachers?

    * You can use these resources at the beginning of the year when you start teaching a about Prehistory, while you are teaching about different time periods in prehistory, and at the end of the year when you've finished teaching your Prehistory unit or course.

    * Detailed instructions in the lesson plans tell you how to administer the pre-tests and post-tests; do the archaeology activity, and implement the end of unit project; info in the teacher notes included in all 6 resources explains how to use the resources.

    * 3 resources are compatible with Google Slides; another resource is designed for virtual teaching (but can be used in in-person teaching, too).

    * Many student materials are ready to use and just need to be photocopied or shared onscreen.

    * The variety of instructional materials and activities helps your students practice and develop their reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills.

    * Challenge handouts in 2 resources keep early finishers occupied or can be used as assignments for the whole class.
