What educators are saying

It was easy to understand and use with my Pre-K class the activities were fun and they were able to learn specific skills and strategies.
What wonderful resource to use in a classroom. My students were engaged and I believe it made learning fun for them.

Description

Do you teach Pre-K or preschool? Do you teach in an early childhood classroom? This completed, and editable weekly lesson plan can be used for the entire week of school. It aligns with the PKFCC (Pre-K standards), and utilizes teacher-created curriculum in culmination with the NYC DOE Pre-K Units of Study as a guide/resource.

The Where We Live" unit in comparable to "Our Community" unit:
Week 1: Where do you and your family live? (focus on houses/homes)
Week 2: How are houses and homes built? *this is not the sequence the DOE uses
Week 3: What places are in our neighborhood? *this is not in the DOE Unit
Week 4: Who works in our community?
*I purposely omit the animal homes week because I do a complete animals unit in the spring

Disclaimer: these lesson plans do not always follow word-for-word one specific curriculum, the lessons pull resources and follow the direction of student interest- I intentionally upload them as "editable" to promote flexibility and allow the user to make the best professional decisions/edits for their own scholars. Please feel free to send me a message to ask any specific questions :)

*Weekly plans are modified and adjusted based on student interest and do not always specifically follow the NYC DOE Units of Study verbatim, but are derived, guided and adapted from the resource. Please feel free to ask me about the modifications before your purchase.

In regards to NYC DOE Units of Study some months I switch around, some months I omit or add different content, I may use varying foundational texts, or varying essential questions.

In addition to the specific focus questions, I include seasonal activities, allotted time for assessment/screenings, and encourage you to edit what works best for your class :)

The lesson plan is designed to be used in a Pre-K classroom, however it can be used at any grade level and the content can be modified to fit the needs of the class you are teaching.

*Suggested template use in early childhood classrooms: 3K, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade

Can be used in a preschool, public school, home school, or virtual school learning environment :)
