Postcard Campaign #3 - Deforestation

This packet introduces a specific environmental issue (in this case, the the destruction of rainforests and necessary response), explains the background and implications in an engaging infographic, then walks the students through writing postcards to companies contributing to the problem. The packets are generally designed as sequential, so that the students' overall knowledge builds on itself with each campaign. However, with a little scaffolding, picking and choosing a topic that matches a class theme would work out fine.

Included:

* links to short video(s) illustrating the issue

* links to the vetted research used to create the infographic, for a deeper dive

* links to the applicable representatives' addresses

* a link to a related "green tip" for basic eco-friendliness in daily life

This is a very flexible plan for science and civics classes, G/T, honor society and Green club activities, or even art classes, as students can create and decorate their own postcards.

If needed, I also have a separate printable to fill out for each campaign, so that the students can keep track of how they're helping to solve the climate crisis.
