Use these problems to:

  • Integrate music, art, and literacy into your math class.
  • Challenge students to read and solve problems and puzzles using various math skills of increasing difficulty. They may involve math operations, exponents, decimals, fractions, percents, integers, expressions, equations, scientific notation, rounding, graphing, geometry, linear equations, polynomials, square roots, area, volume, trigonometry, polar coordinates, and more.
  • Give warmups, bonus problems, or group challenges to students.

Target Level of Math Class:

  • Pre-algebra to College Algebra.
  • High school level and up. Although many questions can be used for middle school math students and easier math, you should check the linked videos or lyrics for appropriateness to use in your classroom.

Options for How to Use This File:

  • Print individual problems/slides for students to work on.
  • Display parts of the PDF files digitally on your LMS as appropriate.
  • Refer to solutions as needed, in a separate PDF file.
  • If YouTube is allowed with your students and the content is appropriate, click on the link to the relevant music video to show how the real lyrics are used. "Parental Advisory" labels are added where you might be more likely to limit video access for younger students.
