Description

This test includes 35 multiple choice, short answer, matching, and fill in the blank questions for any poetry unit.

Questions cover figurative language, refrain, stanza, lines, types of poetry, rhyme scheme, mood, tone, and types of rhymes.

10 multiple choice questions ask students to identify different types of figurative language (personification, simile, metaphor, hyperbole, idiom, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and cliché).

Students will read poems and identify the personification and hyperboles within the poems.

Students will identify a limerick and a haiku.

Students will identify end rhymes and label rhyme schemes.

Students will determine the mood of two separate poems.

Students will read eight examples of figurative language and match the correct name to each example.

Given three short answer questions, students will choose two to complete. Short answer questions include questions about poetry and literature, tone and mood, and ballad and lyrics.
