Description
A very comprehensive lesson to explore the topic of plastic waste. Students are motivated by an interesting video short (true) about a campaign to make the waste island in the Pacific into a real country - Trash Isles.
1. Provide students with the organizer. List products and discuss which are recyclable and which aren't. Can students think of any replacements that might be recyclable?
2. Show the video. Use as a prompt to discuss the issue of plastic waste. If there is time - students can design their own passport and fill out an organizer for Trash Isles.
3. Reading, research. Show the organizer. Students list and / or research facts they know for each category. Then read (answer key) and learn more about the issue of plastic waste.
