Description

A Speech/Language Book Companion that is perfect for Talk Like a Pirate Day. (Book not included)

Included:

12 Comprehension questions with visuals included (2 choices). Includes color and and black/white versions.

What doesn’t belong? Expand this activity by having the student tell you why it doesn’t belong.

Follow simple directions Follow simple directions by putting an "x" on pictures using basic concepts “on, under, over, next to/beside”. Can be expanded by adding colors to the directions.

Follow more complex directions. For those students who are ready for more complex directions, this worksheet requires the student to draw a line over/under, color, circle, or put an "x" on pictures. Can be made more difficult by requiring the student to use a certain color.

Basic concepts. The student tells where the underpants are in relation to the pirate. Concepts targeted: on, under, over, next to/beside.

On/Off Topic The student, after reading what both pirates are saying, decides if he is on/off topic and daubs/colors the appropriate circle.

Vocabulary. Match (by drawing a line) the pirate term from the book to its meaning.

Cooperative Game. Get the pirate back to his ship with the Pants of Gold before the pirate with underpants gets it. Team game; the whole group wins or loses. (Instructions included)

Find & Say. 24 cards with words & pictures to put around the room. The student finds the pirate words with his target and writes them on the sheet provided. The sheet can be taken home for homework.

Sequencing. Includes a blackline version that an be taken home for home practice.

Story Retell using Story Elements. Teaches the names of the story elements while also teaching retell. Elements included: setting, character, story starter, events 1-3, solution, closing.

Scrambled Sentences. Includes 4 & 5 word sentences. Students rearrange words into 4 or 5 word sentences that pertain to the book. Answer Key is included.
