Use Pictures and Number Bonds to Compose and Decompose Numbers to 5
Introduce Number Bonds! Your learners will first work with pictures and number bonds with totals of 3, 4, and 5, and later use the pictures and number bonds to complete number sentence (frames) that match the pictures.
This resource is organized by total (3, 4, and 5) and then mixed numbers for review. It also separates composing (“What Makes 4?”) and decomposing (“What are the parts of 4?”) to help learners grasp the concepts as they are just being introduced to using number bonds.
For each number (3,4,and 5) you will have:
- Pictures and number bonds for composing the number
- Pictures and number bonds for decomposing the number
- Pictures, number bonds and sentence “__ and __ make __” and “___ is __ and __”
- 3 blackline worksheets
Mixed Practice You will have 2 pages (2 problems per page) of composing numbers 3,4and 5 and 2 pages (2 problems per page) of decomposing 3,4 and 5. There are 2 corresponding worksheets for mixed practice. .
