What educators are saying
Description
Differentiating phonetic sounds is a hard skill and ones our primary students need lots of practice with. In this resource, you’ll find 12 digital and printable sound sorts perfect for Word Work.
Each sound sort is differentiated and comes with at least 2 levels of words. The first level includes mostly CVC and CVCe words, perfect for students who are approaching grade-level. The second level includes words that often include multiple phonics patterns or include blends (ex. celebrate, nudged). I print both sets for my students (one on green card stock and one on yellow...if the set as a 3rd level I print that on blue) and place them in a plastic bag next to the Pocket Chart. Students grab their ‘just-right’ color and get to work!
The following sounds/phonics patterns are included in this pack:
- Sounds of Y
- Hard/Soft C
- Hard/Soft G
- /ar/ vs. /or/
- er/ or /ir/ or /ur/
- Long A (ai, a_e, ay)
- Long E (e_e, ea, y as e)
- Long U (ue, ew, ui), /ou/ vs. /ow/
- Long O (ow, oa)
- Long I (ie, igh)
- /oi/ vs. /oy/
- Short and Long OO
