Description

Do you have students working on phonemic awareness? Do they struggle to generate rhyming words or differentiate sounds from letters? This product includes 51 task cards and a STRATEGY SHEET visual for combining sounds and creating rhyming words! The task cards target the following activities:

  • identifying the pair of rhyming words given four choices
  • identifying one word (out of four) that does not rhyme with the others
  • identifying whether or not two words rhyme

Each task card also requests an additional rhyming word, generated by the student. Use the strategy sheet to systematically blend initial sounds with the correct, rhyming ending. Many words included on the task cards include endings with tricky spellings (i.e. -ight, -ough, etc.) and a variety of vowel sounds (i.e. -oat as in 'boat' vs. -ote as in 'vote'; -ea as in 'team' vs. -ee as in 'seem,' etc.). Help your students develop their ear for rhyming while exploring various sounds and spellings with this low-prep, durable, and fun resource!
