Description

Children love learning about animals and to talk about the pet they have or would like to have. Harness this love of animals and springboard into some practical activities for fine motor, writing, math and more.

All the included activities are fast to prep and provided on blackline worksheets.

Included is:

  1. Pinning Page - Fine motor fun! Students can pokey pin their way around a kitten picture!
  2. Handwriting Tracing Page - students can trace a puppy to practice their pencil and prewriting skills.
  3. Informational Writing Page - review simple facts about pets with your students and then have them complete the sentence starters to write a short information report. They will illustrate their writing too. 6 pages to choose from - cat, dog, bird, mouse, chicken and rabbit.
  4. Number Worksheets - students will finish writing numbers within the 1-10 range on each of the dogs
  5. One Page Craft - students will make a chicken by coloring, cutting and gluing
  6. Scissor Skills - students will cut the lines on a goldfish to practice cutting from the side and stopping at a point
  7. Math Craft - students will draw whiskers on the cat and complete an addition sentence
  8. Directed Drawing - a classic style directed drawing for 3 pets - puppy, kitten and bird. Students can follow the 6 steps on the page or draw on art paper to paint.
  9. Find the pairs - great for pre-reading and visual support, students will color the cats that match in the same color

Have lots of fun with this packet and be sure to complement it by reading books about pets at home or on the farm!
