What educators are saying

I used this for an unexpected Sub Day for my Speech/Debate Class. Thank you for making it easy to use.

Description

When teaching persuasive and argumentative essays or speeches, it is inevitable that you will be talking with students about pathos, logos, and ethos. Students in middle and high school have to learn about the rhetorical triangle and how it is used to build arguments. This resource helps them do that in a fun way!

KEY ELEMENTS

This resource puts the responsibility for learning on students and sends them on an investigative hunt for real-world examples of pathos, logos, and ethos. There are so many advertisement and commercials out there to analyze; students will understand how these persuasive techniques are used way faster than they would following your own slideshow and lecture while they take notes.

THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES:

In this project, students will analyze pathos, logos, and ethos and for each:

*define the technique in their owns words

*find an image that represents the technique

*include an advertisement/video that illustrates the technique

*offer an in-depth explanation of why the examples they provided were effective uses of the strategies

(all in a fun, creative slideshow that students can present to the class!)
