This Perspective Taking Resource contains the following activities:

  • Introduction Activity: Use this activity to help your students understand why it is important to learn how to take the perspective of someone else.
  • Perspective Teaching Activity: Use this reading passage and discussion question to teach your students what it means to take someone else's perspective and exactly how to do it.
  • Classroom Poster: Display this poster in your classroom to visually remind your students how to take someone else's perspective. (Available in color or B/W)
  • Perspective Guide: Use this worksheet anytime you want your students to practice taking someone else's perspective. It guides your students through each step of the perspective taking process.
  • Perspective Detective Game: In this activity, students hunt for clues. Each clue card has a pretend scenario where students must practice taking the perspective of the person on the card. There are 18 scenarios in total. There is a QR Code version and a written version. Both versions come in color or B/W.
  • Disagreeing Respectfully Teaching Activity: Use this activity to teach your students the steps to disagreeing respectfully, how to disagree respectfully, when to compromise, and when to agree to disagree.
  • Self Monitoring Guide: Students use this guide to reflect on a recent disagreement. They evaluate themselves to determine if they were able to take the other person's perspective and disagree respectfully. This activity aids in progress monitoring and independent use of the skill.
  • **IMPORTANT**- You will need to use a free QR Code Reader App, not the camera on your phone or tablet to access the correct QR Codes!
