Periodic Table Bingo: Bundle of Two Versions

This bundle includes Periodic Table Bingo: Names and Symbols, as well as Periodic Table Bingo: Names, Symbols, Atomic Numbers, and Atomic Masses!

Periodic Table Bingo is a great way to help chemistry students become familiar with and/or review the organization and content of the periodic table! These games can be used at the beginning of a periodic table unit as an intro activity, as well as at the end of the unit as a way to review content learned. The Names and Symbols version is a bit easier, and is great practice for students who are just beginning to learn about the periodic table. The Names, Symbols, Atomic Numbers, and Atomic Masses version offers more of a challenge as a practice or review game for students who are already somewhat familiar with the periodic table.

This game includes questions on 90 different elements, including the first 56 elements of the periodic table, many other well-known and commonly-used elements, and the six most recently named elements (atomic numbers 113-118).

Included with each version of the game:

-Set-up and game instructions

-Periodic table for student reference

-180 prompt cards to cut out (with answer on each card for reference)

-40 unique, randomized Bingo cards

-Separate file with prompts and answers on alternating slides (can be projected rather than just read aloud, to differentiate for visual learners)

To play this game, the reader (usually the teacher, but the teacher can select one student to play this role instead) will randomly select one of the prompts and will read it aloud to the class. Each student will use their periodic table to determine the answer, and will then check their BINGO card to see if they have the answer. If they find the answer to the prompt on their BINGO card, they can circle it. After students have had a chance to respond to the prompt, the teacher can briefly reveal/review the answer so that the students can check their work. The game will continue in this manner until one of the students gets BINGO (five correct answers circled in a row - horizontal, vertical or diagonal). After the teacher double-checks the winning student's BINGO card, the remaining students can continue playing until someone wins second place and someone wins third place.

Optional:

-Laminate prompt squares for increased durability, so that they can be used multiple times.

-Laminate bingo cards so that they can be used multiple times, and have students mark answers with dry erase markers.

-To better differentiate for visual learners, use the attached Periodic Table BINGO slides instead of just reading the prompts aloud. (Prompt slides are randomized.)

Updated periodic table with revised element information! Please use the new included periodic table with this updated version of the game, as some of the atomic masses (and thus the corresponding BINGO card answers) have been changed. Also, prompt slide formatting has been updated.
