These task cards are great for centers, small group work or whole group. These cards are very versatile and can be used in a lot of different ways to reinforce the concept.
Easy practice for my students. I love that there were two sets included, so those that need extra practice, can do so.

Description

This task card set gives students ample opportunity to practice identifying the correct perfect verb tense in a variety of ways. Each task card is worded in one of the following 3 ways:

  1. Which of the following sentences uses the {past perfect/present perfect/future perfect} tense?
  2. What perfect tense is used in this sentence?
  3. Select the correct tense of {given tense-neutral word} to complete this sentence.

This product contains 48 individual task cards, but I want to explicitly state the following so there is no confusion about what is included. This product has been color-coded to identify task cards that have the same base sentences. For example, task cards 1-4 and 25-28 all have the same blue background. Task cards 1 and 25 both have the same sentence choices, but #1 asks students to identify the PAST perfect tense, while #25 asks students to identify the FUTURE perfect tense.

I use the task cards in a practice-reteach-practice format. After using the PowerPoint (also available in my store, but not required for this resource) to teach the perfect verb tenses, I assign task cards 1-24 as an independent practice opportunity. I collect and check my students' recording sheets, and I use this information to determine which students need additional direct instruction. After reteaching the concept in a small group setting, I use task cards 25-48 to reassess this smaller group of students. PLEASE REFER TO THE PREVIEW FOR AN EXAMPLE.

An answer key is included.

********This resource is available in three formats:

  1. Traditional Printables- Print the PDF and distribute paper copies to your students to complete.
  2. Easel Activity- Students can complete this activity on a device. Students read each card and select the best answer for the task presented. This has a multiple-choice format, and students push the button that displays the correct answer. No checking is necessary! When your students turn it in, you will see their score and the number of attempts they made on each card.
  3. Easel Assessment- Students complete this self-grading quiz on a device, as well. After reading each question, students select the correct answer from a list of four possible answer choices. With this option, the teacher chooses whether or not his or her students receive immediate feedback.
