Description

Penguins are a fun winter theme and this set of 6 penguins themed emergent readers with math components is perfect for both Math & Literacy skills! You can cover shapes, number words/numerals, early subtraction, positional words and ordinal numbers with fun penguins! A non-fiction reader about penguins is also included to help incorporate reading into your science block (or science into your reading block!). Each reader prints 2 to a page to help cut down on paper. Included with each reader are word strips that you can print out and display in a pocket chart. Also included for each reader are full color picture cards to go along with the story. Use them to illustrate the sentences in the pocket chart or have students use them to sequence and retell the story! Check out the preview for a short sample of each reader!

Readers included:

Where Is Penguin? - an interactive positional word reader. The sight words included are: is, in, the, of, on, and to. The students read the sentence, color the picture and glue the penguin picture in the right place according to the positional words on the page. The positional words are: on, next to, between, under, above, in front of, and in.

What Shape? - includes color words and the following shapes: circle, triangle, rectangle, square, rhombus, trapezoid, cylinder and cube. Sight words included: the, have, a.

5 Little Penguins - basic subtraction reader, with rhyming text! Sight words included: and, do, in, little, on, the, then, there, to, were, with.

How Many Penguins? - counting book that covers number words and numerals for 0-5. Sight words included: little, on, the.

5 Penguins On The Ice - ordinal number reader, also has rhyming text!

All About Penguins - a nonfiction reader that students can read using picture cues and sight words: are, can, have.
