Description
Complete Lesson Plans and All Activities!
This unit is about the coordinate plane. Students will learn about the axes and the origin. They will graph in the first quadrant. They will learn the difference between the additive and multiplicative patterns in tables and in graphs. Students will use input output tables and graphs to generate a rule.
I have broken down each TEK into Learning Targets to make it easier to track student progress. There are 7 skills in this unit! Each learning target contains intervention and enrichment skills. A student data sheet is included for students to reflect on their own learning for the unit. A teacher tracking sheet is included to make small group instruction easier!
Each day contains objective, learning targets, materials, whole class teaching activity, guided math activity and closure with an exit ticket and answer key for most days.
Whole Class teaching in this unit contains:
Mini Lessons
- Connection
- Teaching Point
- Active Engagement
- Link to Ongoing Learning
Games
Math Huddle
Games and Engagement Activities in this unit include:
- SCOOT 5.8A
- Scavenger Hunt 5.8B
- Geoboard Create 5.8C
- Concept Attainment 5.4D
- Mirror 5.4D
- SCOOT 5.4C
- Scavenger Hunt 5.4C
- Matching 5.4C
- Mystery Challenge 5.4C
This unit is designed to print and go! I keep mine in a binder. You can put each day and all of the materials for that day in one sheet protector.
I hope this unit helps you with Guided Math by providing a whole class teach, active engagement, guided math activities and exit tickets for almost everyday- you can't beat $1.50 per day for a complete unit!

TEKS: 5.8A 5.8B 5.8C 5.4C
5.8(A) describe the key attributes of the coordinate plane, including perpendicular number lines (axes) where the intersection (origin) of the two lines coincides with zero on each number line and the given point (0, 0); the x-coordinate, the first number in an ordered pair, indicates movement parallel to the x-axis starting at the origin; and the y-coordinate, the second number, indicates movement parallel to the y-axis starting at the origin
5.8(B) describe the process for graphing ordered pairs of numbers in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane
5.8(C) graph in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane ordered pairs of numbers arising from mathematical and real-world problems, including those generated by number patterns or found in an input-output table
5.4(C) generate a numerical pattern when given a rule in the form y = ax or y = x + a and graph
