Learning Objective
Students will identify the part of speech of each underlined word.
Description
Are your students needing to review their parts of speech before upcoming spring assessments? Or maybe you've "saved" teaching parts of speech until this point in the year. Either way, this is an engaging activity for reviewing the parts of speech. Your students will read several sentences and determine the part of speech of the underlined word. The finished products make a unique spring bulletin board or fun school hallway display!
The parts of speech included in this project are:
- noun
- verb
- pronoun
- adjective
- adverb
- preposition
You can easily adapt this activity, however, if you teach at a grade level that does not focus on all six of these parts of speech.
Student-friendly directions are included so that you can place the directions under your document camera, and students can refer to them as they complete the project. (An answer key is also included.)
