Another option is to use the PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN QUICK REFERENCE FLIPBOOK as a lens for interpretation of their work, or that of their classmates, when practicing Formal Analysis in your art class.

Students can use a modified copy to place into their sketchbooks, so that they’ll always have it on hand as they create and observe.

Notes:

The download for this pdf was created to be printed on regular printer paper, landscape style.

If you choose to print onto cardstock, the flipbook will be thick and you will need an extra large document stapler.

To make it smaller (and save paper), you can print portrait orientation, two per page.

The updated file includes page numbers.

TIP: To make it more sturdy, copy the front and back pages onto cardstock.

This download comes in PDF format.
