Description

The PETS approach to solving math word problems was developed in an effort to guide students through the expectations for elementary students, enabling them to receive maximum credit on constructed response assessments. These resources were created to provide a mnemonic device, a checklist, and consistent format for students receiving special education services, regardless of grade level material being taught. In this packet you will find a full-size checklist, smaller student checklists, templates with fading prompts for working through each step of a problem, and a few lower-level example problems. The templates also remind students who utilize Touchmath to place the touchpoints they have been taught. The templates can be used to create worksheets with single problems in order to practice the steps. Another way to use them would be to laminate them and use dry erase markers to work out problems, reusing the pages over and over. Hopefully you will find these resources beneficial. If you encounter any problems, please let me know.
