    Description

Get PE sorted this year with this essential bundle of PE Unit Plans! With no prep required, these pre-prepared and easy-to-follow lessons (72 x 1 hour lessons in total) will provide children of any ability a cracking time - and will provide you with complete peace of mind!

Each lesson includes a warm up, input, activity time and warm down, with only the most basic equipment required. There are loads of FUN GAMES, RACES, PERFORMANCES and SKILL DEVELOPMENT included!

    Benchball (6 x 1 hour lessons)

We will start the unit by learning the rules of benchball, moving into basic throwing and catching. We will then look at more advanced ways to throw a benchball. As is required in a game of benchball, we will also work on fitness, agility, movement and positioning. Will we play controlled games of benchball and then finish with a benchball tournament (and then some variations of the game)! Garanteed good fun!

    Dance (6 x 1 hour lessons)

We will start the unit by doing group dances along to YouTube videos - which will dust off the cobwebs and encourage the development of new dance moves! Moving forwards, the children will create choreographed pop dance routines in small groups. Slowing things down a little, they will then create and perform a mirror routine in partners. With thought and control, next they will then split into small groups to create an expressive dance to a short story. To finish off this exciting unit the children will take part in a Zumba dance and then create and perform intimidating and warrior-like tribal dances!

    Yoga (6 x 1 hour lessons)

Starting with learning 10 yoga poses, children will pair up to create their own yoga sequences which include their own poses. This will evolve into creating graceful transitions into each pose, and performing this to the rest of the class. We will then take a deeper look into speed, pathways and levels of yoga, building core strength and endurance at the same time. Throughout the programme, warm up and warm downs will include meditations from YouTube channels designed to teach breathing and awareness to children. For the final 3 lessons, children will take part in YouTube led guided yoga sessions.

    Dodgeball (6 x 1 hour lessons)

We start the unit by learning the rules of this much loved game, and will have some initial practise throwing, dodging and catching. From there we will focus our attention on speed, agility and reaction (the essence of dodgeball!) and only then will we start playing some controlled games of dodgeball. We will spend a lesson working on our teamwork and how to work together to overcome a challenge through communication and thinking. After this we will have a whole class dodgeball tournament, moving onto playing some fun dodgeball games with a twist!

    Gymnastics (6 x 1 hour lessons)

In this all important PE unit we will start by developing control and technique when using a range of rolls and jumps. From there we will move onto creating and performing a balance sequence on a mat with a partner. Then comes cart-wheels and headstands, where children will learn the proper technique and get the chance to develop these skills in partners. The children will then get the opportunity to take part in a yoga lesson! To round the unit off, the children will develop flexibility and control whilst improving technique when using a range of gym equipment - whatever you have is fine!

    Sports Day Events 1 (6 x 1 hour lessons)

We have created two sets of sports day unit plans. In this set (sports day event 1), the children will start by developing their sprint technique to increase their speed, starting with a 20m sprint and building to a 100m sprint. We will then move onto developing their fitness for long distance running. Moving away from running, next on the list is to learn the correct throwing technique and enjoying a few games together involving throwing tennis balls. The children will then focus on jumping over obstacles and then jumping for distance, learning a variety of jumps. We will end the unit by taking part in some competitive (but fun) relay races!
