Description

Having a graphic organizer to teach opinion writing has been a HUGE help to me every school year. Although the standard only requires our first grade students to provide one reason for their opinion, I gradually introduce them to providing two and three reasons over the course of the school year. This way students go to second grade with a little bump up from where they need to be. These graphic organizers could easily be used for second and third grade students as well.

This graphic organizer set includes templates both with and without sentence stems to help differentiate for a variety of learners. At the top of some of the templates, students will write the question/prompt (or you, the teacher, may pre-write the question yourself) that needs to be answered.

For example, you may ask the students,"What is the best weather?" or "Should kids be allowed to drive cars?"

Then students will go on to answer the prompt/question using the graphic organizer. When students have finished they may use lined writing paper to copy the prompt.

I have also included vertical and horizontal writing paper as a bonus! Check out my other items for more writing organizers and posters.
