    Description

School closing due to Coronavirus? Keep the students sharp with their Integer Operation skills! Perfect for Distance Learning. Post to Google Classroom, it's a breeze.

The complete BUNDLE for practicing all four main operations with postive and negative integers! Students practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing rational numbers (positive and negative integers only) with these addictive puzzles!

A different and fun way to practice INTEGER operation facts within +/-100. The Puzzles provide the answers, students need to fill in all 4 boxes in the Square to produce the correct sum/difference/product/quotient across each row and down each column! It's a fantastic way to also practice operation fact fluency with positive and negative integers. The download comes with 4 practice worksheets for each operation (that's 144 unique puzzles in total!), 1 "make your own" Square worksheet for each operation type, and complete solutions pages for each operation product.

    IDEAS FOR USE:

    • Use as consolidation of your own lessons on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with integers
    • Use as homework for your own unit
    • Back to School fact fluency review
    • Math Center activity
    • Enrichment opportunity for early finishers (or for working at grade levels beyond the students actual level)
    • Many puzzles have more than one correct solution! Use it as math talks to have students share their different solutions, or challenge them to come up with more than one solution to a puzzle!
    • Some puzzles incorporate an excellent way to reinforce rules for multiplying/dividing with ZERO

My students love these puzzles as they are way more engaging than the usual mad minute style practice. Even student who don't like math, enjoy these Integer Operation Squares! I even have parents asking for more practice with these because they enjoy the challenge!

Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers; represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram.
Describe situations in which opposite quantities combine to make 0. For example, a hydrogen atom has 0 charge because its two constituents are oppositely charged.
Understand 𝘱 + 𝘲 as the number located a distance |𝘲| from 𝘱, in the positive or negative direction depending on whether 𝘲 is positive or negative. Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Interpret sums of rational numbers by describing real-world contexts.
Understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse, 𝘱 – 𝘲 = 𝘱 + (–𝘲). Show that the distance between two rational numbers on the number line is the absolute value of their difference, and apply this principle in real-world contexts.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract rational numbers.
