This resource contains 24 onset cards including consonants, /qu/, and initial digraphs /sh/ /th/, /ch/, and /wh/, as well as 28 rime cards including common word family VC endings as well as /ing/. Also included is an onset and rime blending mat and a sheet for students to record the words they build. This resource would make a great phonics center, Montessori shelf work, or small group, intervention lesson. Students will select an onset and a rime card, place them on the mat in the color coded boxes tap the word parts, and blend to create real and nonsense words. Then have them record those words on their recording sheet. Complete lesson plans are included with this resource making it easy to leave for a sub, guest teacher, paraprofessionals, or small group teachers.
