What educators are saying

Thank you for sharing this quality resource! It was such a helpful supplement to my unit on Native Americans.
My students loved learning about Ohio tribes and were very excited to find which tribe lived in the area we live in. Excellent!

Description

Use this pack to learn more about the 8 different tribes that lived in the Ohio lands. There is one page of notes (in color and black & white) for each of the 8 tribes. I shrink the pages on the copier to 90% so they fit into our social studies notebooks.

Tribes Included: Wyandot, Ottawa, Seneca, Erie, Shawnee, Delaware, Miami, and Mingo

Activity #1 – Ohio’s Native Americans Map

Color the map, with a different color for each tribe. Cut the map out and add a title, compass and key. We glue the map into the center of our open notebook (or on a 12 x 18 sheet of paper) and then add brief notes about the tribes on the sides.

Activity #2 – Notes on Native American Tribes

Take more detailed notes on each of the 8 tribes. Write them on the sheets provided, fold the sheets in half and place each one into the labeled pocket. I copy the black & white set of notes for each table to use as they take their notes.

*I also enlarge the map to poster size and hang up the notes all around the map as a display while we are working on longer reports and projects.

Activity #3 - Poster Report Project

Working as a small group, students create a poster report about one of the 8 tribes using information and pictures.
