What educators are saying

I love this resource and the ease with which I can use it with my students! It is engaging and helps deliver content in such a way that my students enjoy learning.

Description

This numerical patterns activity makes practice is fun and engaging! This set of 4 cut and paste math worksheets are the perfect number patterns resource for math centers, small group math activities or homework.

This resource includes:

  • 4 different matching cut and paste activity sheets
  • Each sheet has 12 different problems for students to solve (and 12 matching answers)
  • answer keys for each page
  • teacher directions and information

The difficulty level increases as students work through the four different activities:

  • sheet #1- identify the one-step rule for the given number pattern
  • sheet #2- identify the two-step rule for the given number pattern
  • sheet #3- identify the missing term in the number pattern
  • sheet #4- given a rule and the first term in the number pattern, find the (third, fourth etc..) term in the pattern.

This resource provides a great way for students to get valuable practice applying and identifying rules for number patterns and allows them to self correct when they make mistakes. If they solve a problem, and the solution isn't in the answer list, they can go back to the problem and correct their errors.

This resource works great as:

  • a whole class activity or practice
  • part of small group math instruction or interventions
  • math center or station activities
  • homework

This is a great resource to add to your collection of number pattern activities!

Generate a number or shape pattern that follows a given rule. Identify apparent features of the pattern that were not explicit in the rule itself. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 1, generate terms in the resulting sequence and observe that the terms appear to alternate between odd and even numbers. Explain informally why the numbers will continue to alternate in this way.
Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 0, and given the rule “Add 6” and the starting number 0, generate terms in the resulting sequences, and observe that the terms in one sequence are twice the corresponding terms in the other sequence. Explain informally why this is so.
