Numbers to 10 Google Slide™ Lessons - Created for In Person Learning

I created these slides to use to teach about numbers to 10 explicitly at the beginning of the year.

In the past, we taught number to ten very briefly; learning a number formation song and then creating co-created number posters whole group. Then, after assessments we would pull small groups for additional lessons for the students who needed it.

However, with how COVID has affected our lives and the lives of the children we teach these past few years, there seems to be a need for more explicit instruction of basic skills. I also made these so that they are no prep! I know we are all busy and the less time we are prepping anchor charts and lessons the better right? Just project these on your projector screen or SMARTBoard and you’re read y to go!

You can use them as is as a Google Slides file or you can download them as a PowerPoint. To do this just go to the Google Slide and then click “File” -> “Download” -> “PowerPoint”. It should automatically go to your downloads folder or you will be asked to specify where you want it to download. I like downloading them as PowerPoint files because I can put them on my desktop on the day of the lesson and just open them up! It is also easier for supply teachers to find!

I have included 10 slides (except for number 1) but you are welcome to delete the slides you don’t need to keep the lesson nice and short. We all know Kindergarten students don’t have the longest attention spans, especially at the beginning of the year! I included all of the slides so that there are lots of options to choose from!

I have included how I intend to use these in the educator guide which is in the READ ME FIRST.pdf!

Slide 1: Learn the name of the number

Slide 2: Find & circle the number

Slide 3: Learn the number formation with a number poem (formation gif included)

Slide 4: Practice 1:1 correspondence by counting dots representing the number

Slide 5: Create the focus number following the prompt on the page

Slide 6: Practice representing the focus numbers with fingers

Slide 7: Show the focus number with dots on a ten frame

Slide 8: Practicing identifying the focus number vs. not the focus number

Slide 9: Review: Choral read numbers you have taught to practice number identification fluency (assuming you teach them in order). Not included for Lesson 1.

Slide 10: Order numbers from smallest to biggest. Not included for Lesson 1.
