Description

Number searches are an awesome fun way to practice important math skills! There are 8 number searches that help practice beginning to advanced multiplication. With repetitive practice, students build confidence in completing multiplication, while also being able to check their answers by finding them in the number search. It is SO important that students can check themselves while practicing, so that they don't create incorrect methods of solving. This resource is great for MORNING WORK, HOMEWORK, or CLASS WORK.

How it works;

  1. Teacher prints either version A or B for math search. Version A gives practice with either; odd and even numbers, greater than and less than, divisibility, or powers of ten (depending on search).
  2. Students solve a multiplication problem.
  3. If they are solving an 'A' search they follow the directions for shading.
  4. They find their answer in the number search, and shade it in.
  5. They continue for 10 problems on each search.

Multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 in the range 10–90 (e.g., 9 × 80, 5 × 60) using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left.
Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.
