Description

Numberscans

Numberscans are similar to word searches. The idea being to search out numbers that sum up to a given value.
These numberscans were had drawn for my special needs students. The idea being that in addition to practicing number arithmetic skills, the numberscans would help build work-focus skills by targeting working memory and detail differentiation skills. I am pleased to say that they do this well for students with ASD and ADHD as well as general lack of practice focusing and dealing with distractions. These students also benefit from dealing with the imperfections of handwritten work.

The numberscans are best used by giving a scan and allowing the student towork on them until they feel the need to stop. I then file them and give them one that they had started another day with a different colour pen. Solutions overlap so this can be done many times (the record is 6).

Adding positive integers to 10. This numberscan has a border that many of my special needs students view as a fence and find them focus on what is inside the border. Drawn on graph paper to aid as a “reading references grid” it has plenty of distractions. I am offering this one as a sample and free.

I have a set of 7 (including this one) for sale.
