This product supports the strategies outlined in the text Notice and Note - Strategies for Close Reading, written by Kylene Beers & Robert E. Probst.
Research has indicated that when a reader pays attention to the particular signals or “signposts” provided by the author within literary texts, depth of understanding and personal engagement with texts can increase.
This EDITABLE resource includes:
*A 27 page Ppt presentation that introduces and explains each signpost, has
activities for exploring personal and text connections to each signpost, and includes
whole class/center activities.
*SPECIFIC SIGNPOST BOOK TITLES! I have searched far and wide for a resource like this. I couldn't find one, so I created my own.
This 9 page word doc lists between 5-10 picture book titles for each signpost, with specific examples indicating where to find each signpost in each text listed. These can be used with ANY grade level, as picture books provide a quick and explicit example within a short text. (I use these same titles when presenting this topic to teachers.)
