Description

This reader's Theater is for a small group of four students. It is about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and I use it for Saint Patrick's Day. The children see a rainbow and Elizabeth wants them to go look for the pot of gold at the end. Thomas doesn’t believe in fairies, leprechauns, and pots of gold but Marty and Melanie aren’t sure. This leads them to a discussion about Irish fairy tales and Saint Patrick. If you are interested in scripts for Saint Patrick's Day you can buy all six in the package called 'Irish Small Group Reader's Theater Pack' for $12. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily. This one does have a colored picture on the first page but the rest is black and white. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice in and less off task behaviors take place.
