    Description

This resource is a bundle of my Norse Mythology and Elon Musk Escape Rooms.

NORSE MYTHOLOGY ESCAPE ROOM - Thor's Quest

This engaging escape room introduces your students to the Norse myth “Aegir’s Feast: How Thor Triumphed.” Can Thor use his force and cunning to successfully steal a mead kettle from the Giant Hrymer?

Students don’t need prior knowledge of Norse Mythology to understand the myth. If you have taught my Norse Mythology Unit, the escape room will serve as a great review and extension.

The text is broken down into six sections – beginning, four challenges, end. Students will read the sections and answer questions to find clues. They have to find one clue per challenge and use these four clues to find the final clue.

    1. Introduction: The first part of the story introduces Thor’s quest to steal Giant Hrymer’s mead-brewing kettle (text handout and ppt presentation).

    2. First Challenge/Clue: Thor prepares for his quest and arrives at the Giant’s dwelling. Students answer reading comprehension questions; select letters from answers provide the first clue (text and activity).

    3. Second Challenge/Clue: Thor meets the fierce Giant Hrymer and is challenged to a fishing duel. Students search for character descriptions in the text; select letters from answers provide the second clue (text and activity).

    4. Third Challenge/Clue: Thor and Hrymer go fishing; Thor battles Jörmungand. Students match question and answer cards (reading comprehension) and sort them to reveal the third clue (text, cards, and activity).

    5. Fourth Challenge/Clue: Hrymer challenges Thor to break a cup. Students decipher Viking runes to find the fourth clue (text and activity).

    6. Final Clue: Students receive answer sheet and unscramble letters from the four clues to find the fifth and final clue. They receive the last part of the story in exchange for the final clue.

    7. End: Students learn that Thor successfully steals the kettle and is celebrated by the Dwellers of Asgard (text handout and ppt presentation).

The escape room includes everything you need for a fun-filled lesson. You just need a printer and a pair of scissors. All texts and activities are also included as Easel activities, so you can assign them online as well.

Answer keys are included for all activities.

    Length: About 60-90 minutes.

The escape room can easily be assigned online with TPT Easel.
