PRODUCT OVERVIEW

This 8-page student book fits in with lessons about nocturnal animals. The reading level is perfect for K-1 students, as well as 2nd grade children who need a little extra support. Each page includes beginning high-frequency words and predictable text with some breaks in pattern to keep readers engaged with the words on the page.

Each page also includes a missing animal word. In the order of the pages, they are:

  1. bat
  2. moth
  3. owl
  4. mole
  5. mouse
  6. skunk

The final page in the book invites the children to draw and label another nocturnal animal that isn't already included in the book. This gives the reader a chance to demonstrate their own background knowledge and practice stretching out and spelling another word on their own.

TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I am always appreciative of emergent readers I can print and give to my students. They really like having their own books!" (Elizabeth F.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Great for practicing segmenting and blending. We were learning about nocturnal animals and this fit in perfectly. The illustrations inspired the kiddos to create their own drawings, too!" (Rebecca N.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “My class of pre-primary students love all of these student-made books. The concept of nocturnal animals really motivated them as did the idea of becoming an author of their own. Thanks for a fab FREE resource!" (Renae C.)
