News report and Newscast Project

In this project, students select local news, world news, sports or weather as their focus. They they self direct their research with teacher support and graphic organizers to help guide them. They then write a news story and participate in a newscast. I had the students use iMovie to create their finished newscast, but it is not required. Students can perform their newscast in front of the class. My students loved this activity and I loved that it hit individual interests, but also had the collaborative piece of the newscast.
