NERVE CELLS AND SYNAPSES DIAGRAM WORKSHEETS & MATCH UP ACTIVITY

Included in this resource:

Nerve Cell Diagram Worksheet - Looking at parts of the nerve cell, students can label and describe the functions (e.g. nucleus, axon, dendrites, myelin sheath etc). Students are also asked to define what a neuron is and the three types or neuron, linked to a simple diagram.

Synapse Diagram Worksheet - Students are presented with a diagram of a synapse and must label the relevant parts. Students then outline the process of the chemical neurotransmitters diffusing from one neuron to another in four bitesize steps, with the aid of keywords.

Match Up Worksheets for Nerve Cells and Synapses - Worksheets to support the learning of new keywords. Students must match up the keyword with the correct definition. This resource comes in A4 and also A5 as I have previously used this for a starter activity, so I found the smaller (and printer saving version) helpful.

Answers - A full set of comprehensive answers are available for all worksheets for teacher/ independent / peer review.

Please note these worksheets uses the British English spelling for neuron.

Please feel free to ask any questions and view the preview for further insight - Many thanks - Science House
