Description
In this engaging and interactive lesson, students will first learn about natural resources, renewable, non-renewable, and inexhaustible. Students will be able to use their understanding of these natural resources as well as how humans have impacted the earth through resource depletion, to consider "big questions" about best practices in ensuring ongoing sustainability.
Students will then learn about ecological footprints and analyze their own data to determine their impact on the earth. Furthermore, students will learn what their personal overshoot day is and consider humanities overshoot day, through data analysis.
This lesson is jam-packed with data and graphs to support students' skills in analysis, inferring, and questioning.
This lesson has activities included throughout to check for understanding as well as an engaging worksheet.
This lesson is suitable for grades 7-12 and the PowerPoint is editable to suit your needs!
