NGSS Learning Targets

I can…use learning targets to engage and inform students!
Students NEED to be informed of your end goal prior to teaching any content. According to Hattie’s research, teacher clarity and monitoring impact are two of the most important practices in order to achieve a large and positive impact on students. Thinking logically, we plan with our end goal in mind. Students learn best if they know what our end goal too. Displaying, stating, and explaining student learning objectives throughout the unit help to pair student and teacher goals. Additionally, learning targets help to ELIMINATE the question, “What are we doing?” OR, “Why do we need to learn this?”
