Description
Have you discovered the power of Must Do/May Do in your classroom yet? This year I discovered just how powerful this strategy is in the classroom!
It's simple. Give students a few "must do" tasks. These are non-negotiables. Then, give students a few (or a lot!) "may do" tasks! Be amazed as students who used to complain about work will get their work done so they can move onto their may dos. I use this after a mini lesson and during independent work time. You could use this while you pull small groups. The power of choice helps students to stay on task while you work with your small group.
