What educators are saying

My students love knock out, so this was not my first purchase! Great product to review multiplication and division facts. I will continue to use these to engage my students and have fun.
My students use this more then I were planning on them using it, however, they love testing each other and challenging each other. They love that they are able to use this is practice when mastering their skills.

    Description

Multiplication practice and division practice are so important, but it can be very tricky to find multiplication games and division games that are actually FUN. Enter: Knockout, a quick-paced, nail-biter of a math game that will leave your kids BEGGING for more! Team up to knock out the other team's players. The last team standing wins! This whiteboard game for practicing multiplication facts and division facts will steal your kids' hearts.

A word of warning: Your kids will get SO excited when you play, and they'll work super hard all week practicing their math facts just so they can improve their Knockout game! Division practice and multiplication practice has never been so fun!

A quick look at Knockout & how it is played:

    •Divide your class into 2 single-file lines

    •Display the first slide

•The player at the front of their line faces off against the player from the other team: the first player to answer their question correctly wins and returns to the end of the line.

•The player who does not win goes to sit on the team "bench" to cheer on the team!

BUT WAIT. That's not all. If a player faces these slides, the following could happen:

Double Free Pass: Both players automatically get to stay in the game!

Double Knockout: Both players are automatically out!

Knockout/Free Pass: One player goes, one stays!

Pick a Pal: Choose a player from the bench to return to the game!

Knockout/Pick a Pal: One player goes, the other chooses a friend to return!

The team with players standing at the end of the game wins. In our classroom, we like to keep teams the same for a week or two and keep a running score as a Knockout "tournament."

This is a set of PowerPoint files and Google Slides. No interactive whiteboard is needed; simply project the slides on any blank wall and you're good to go!

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
Interpret whole-number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56 ÷ 8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a number of shares or a number of groups can be expressed as 56 ÷ 8.
    Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. Examples: If 6 × 4 = 24 is known, then 4 × 6 = 24 is also known. (Commutative property of multiplication.) 3 × 5 × 2 can be found by 3 × 5 = 15, then 15 × 2 = 30, or by 5 × 2 = 10, then 3 × 10 = 30. (Associative property of multiplication.) Knowing that 8 × 5 = 40 and 8 × 2 = 16, one can find 8 × 7 as 8 × (5 + 2) = (8 × 5) + (8 × 2) = 40 + 16 = 56. (Distributive property.)
Understand division as an unknown-factor problem. For example, find 32 ÷ 8 by finding the number that makes 32 when multiplied by 8.
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
