Multiple Meaning Words Task Cards Using Context Clues
- PDF
What educators are saying
Description
This resource includes two sets of multiple meaning word or homograph task cards. Each set includes 24 cards, which print four cards to a page.
For students who already understand that words can have more than one meaning, this activity requires thinking more deeply about the meaning of each word in context. Students are instructed to read the sentence provided on each card and use context clues to determine which meaning of the underlined homograph is most likely being used.
These are multiple choice style cards with two to three possible definitions provided for each homograph.
Two recording sheet options and an answer key for each set of cards is included.
Task cards are great for a literacy center, whole-group white board practice when displayed under a document camera, or a game of scoot!
