Description

In our Movie Director project, students take on the role of a movie director for a film adaptation of a book they have read. For this task, students will plan the setting in which the movie will take place, cast the key roles, and plan a trailer that captures a key message in the book. They are required to provide textual evidence and analysis of the book to show their understanding throughout the workbook.

The package works for independent, small group, or whole class novel studies. This fantastic resource is available as a printable workbook and an electronic file. It can also be extended by having students actually create the trailer based on the planning they complete in this package.

The Movie Director workbook includes the following activities:

  • Instructions
  • Exemplars
  • Graphic organizers
  • Setting, casting, and trailer planning activities
  • Self- and peer-review checklist
