Description
Product Description: If your kids are learning about Earth and how the power of water to erode Earth's crust to create a massive Grand Canyon, this might be a good resource. Why does the Mississippi River not create a canyon, too? Your kids will be able to answer that after seeing this video. This is also a great resource for teaching deposition (the Mississippi river) versus erosion (the Colorado river), sea level changes, how rocks are formed (shale versus limestone), and geological processes such as uplifting events and volcanic eruptions. I honestly just enjoyed watching the video, and it's FREE on YouTube thanks to the History Channel. Watch it here; it's 44 minutes long.
Assign this as a homework assignment, or during class. But however you assign it, the PPT whole-class review allows you to expose your kids to the content two times. Allow them to check their own work while you supervise, or collect and use this PPT to review the answers. In the classroom, less can often be more, and this PPT allows for that to happen. It's also highly animated to allow for teacher questioning throughout the review.
