STEM BUILDING CHALLENGES-
HOW THEY WORK: each kiddo picks a building material of their choice. My kids grabbed things in their homes (cereal, Legos, stuffed animals, etc.) and brought a pile back to the ZOOM screen. You can have them build with one material or with a few different ones. This pack is EXTREMELY flexible to meet the needs of your class and plan. Next, I explained the directions to the kids. For this round, these were going to be SPEED builds. I was going to show an item on the screen and they had to build it as quickly as they can with the material they picked. So if the word says fence, the kids had to construct a fence out of their building material. THE KIDS HAD SO MUCH FUN! It really brought the ZOOM alive and woke them up...which was super nice, because it can get SO HARD for the kids to sit for extended lengths of time in front of these screens.
4 versions of STEM challenge slides are included in this pack. Each set comes in a PowerPoint and PDF file for super easy screen sharing on ZOOM and/or Google Meet platforms. NO PREP AT ALL! I also included the individual PNG files of each slide. This will allow them to be easily inserted into any slideshow, platform, etc. you are already using. The last set is a "HARD" set or a challenge set. This one isn't necessarily for "speed" building but maybe for them to go through the complete STEM process of brainstorming, building, etc. Each of the 4 sets have 10 things to build. You can use these as speed sorts, individual STEM challenges, homework, morning work, AND SO MUCH MORE!
