Description

* High-Interest, Low Readability Fairy Tales with a Twist! * These 40 interactive Google Slides will help students improve reading comprehension skills with short, humorous stories, who, what, when, where, and why questions, and TONS of Cloze Reading practice!

Your struggling readers and on-level students will laugh-out-loud at the humorous twist on familiar childhood fairy tales. The stories use clever language to give the stories' events a more contemporary feel and are presented like newspaper articles.

The accompanying illustrations draw students further into the stories and add another humorous element. Struggling and/or reluctant readers in third grade through high school will find the stories amusing and fun to read.

Students will learn to apply comprehension strategies so that they can understand and retain the information they read. In addition, Cloze Reading practice helps students slow down and really understand the story, while using context clues to learn new vocabulary words. These funny short stories are perfect for grades 3 and up, as well as well as reluctant and struggling readers of all ages!

Story Specifics:
The short stories were written with reluctant readers in mind. They are 110-145 words and are written at a 2.0-4.5 reading level, as determined by the Flesch- Kincaid Readability Scale. A table of contents in included that shows the reading level for each story.

Activities:
Five questions follow each story. They are based on the Five W's – who, what, when, where, and why. The questions require students to find facts and locate information. By answering the questions, students will gain valuable comprehension skills. To further reinforce reading and vocabulary comprehension each story also includes cloze reading activities. This set of slides includes 100 Five W's Comprehension Questions
and 160 Cloze Reading Activities!

Benefits of Google Slides:
If you've been looking for a way to integrate technology into your lessons, this is your answer. And the best part is you don't have to print, cut, laminate, or replace when you lose pieces....it's ALL DIGITAL!

How do Google Slides Work?
Students read each high-interest story on a computer or iPad then answer the comprehension questions right on their copy of the slides. Teachers can see students' answers in real time, or review them later. Slides can also be printed and used as colorful classroom worksheets, or shown on a whiteboard.

Your students will love these engaging DIGITAL Google Slides reading lessons! They're perfect for students of all ages, who are reading below grade level.
